A fine example in red, yellow, olive, and black. An image Jane Avril,
of one of Lautrec's favorite Montmartre dancers and closest friends.
Transcribed in 1896 from Lautrec's 1893 full size poster designed to publicize
the famous dancer Jane Avril at Jardin de Paris. The original poster was one of several of Lautrec's posters that charted
a bold new direction in posters and was very popular in Paris. In this scene, Jane Avril is performing a popular dance
considered by some at the time to be vulgar. This image was published in the monthly series Les Affiches Illustrees,
a collection of small format poster images for collectors. This series was published in 1896 by Imprimerie Chaix and
printed by Imprimerie Eugene Verneau in Paris. Edition Size is 1,025. Many of these have not survived in good condition;
many have not survived at all.
