Navajo Yei Rug (Weaving)

For sale is a 35 inch H x 37 inch W (89 cm x 94 cm) Navajo Yei Rug. It was sold to us as a Navajo Yei rug, circa 1930 … that identification is written on the paper tag still attached to the bottom right corner. Three female Yei (pronounced yay) Holy People are depicted on this tightly woven rug. Tassles are found on all four corners. The 2 inch (5 cm) outside border of the rug is black, but does not show up very well in the photos.

A local Portland, Oregon antique appraiser performed an examination of the rug and verbally authenticated it as a genuine Navajo weaving. Based on the colors used, however, he dated it to the 1950-1960 period. He said the colors on the rug were not being used for Navajo rugs in the 1930’s. So we are offering it as dated to the 1950-1960 era.

Price is $450 USD. $40 shipping on this piece to North America. Please contact us for shipping to Europe. Insurance included in shipping. Please email or call if you wish to purchase this wonderful Native American piece.
