This 1897 lithograph comes from a series called Les Programmes Illustrees des Theatres et Cafe Concerts, a collection of artwork that originally graced programs for theatres and cafe-concerts of the period.

Follies Bergere (1897)
Original 1897 lithograph printed in colors on wove paper.  Not signed. Transcribed from a poster advertising Matinee performances of the Follies Bergere. Colorful blue, red, yellow, metallic gold, and black ink.
 
The image was published in the monthly series Les Programmes Illustrees des Theatres et des Cafe-Concerts, a collection of artwork original executed for theater programs and cafe concerts. The series was published in 1987 by Ernest Maindron; this plate was printed by Imprimerie F. Appel in Paris. Follies Bergere was a popular revue theater at the edge of Montmartre and was famous for its decorations, costumes, and cabaret performances.

Only 1,025 copies of this image was produced. Many have not survived; many others have not survived in good condition. This piece was examined apart from the frame and found to be in excellet condition. 

 

Conservation framed in gold-leaf frame and finished with off-white linen matting and matching gold filet. All materials are acid free. Set behind a UV-resistant Plexiglas cover.  Framed size is 17-1/2 inches H  x 14-1/2 inches W (44 cm x 37 cm).
