French artist Andre Villeboeuf (1893-1956) admired and wrote extensively about the Spanish artist Francisco Goya. Goya’s influence is seen in these works in the surreal images of beasts and in the mythic themes of good vs. evil.

Listed below are full-page etchings without text from the book Contes Fantastique. These are strong impressions in a brown-black ink on fine quality Lana wove paper.  Since the tissue paper separators were still in place in the book, it is unlikely the etchings have seen much daylight at all. Some photos have a reddish-tone; actual color is brown-charcoal-black.
