Untitled (Loneliness
Theme) - Original
Color
Lithograph by Witold-K
This is an original, signed lithograph in colors on wove paper by Witold-K, exploring the theme of loneliness.
The viewer peers down at a person who is sitting alone, with their knees pulled up to close to their head. The work is signed
and dated by the artist in pencil lower right. It is also numbered by the artist in pencil lower left.
This
work comes from 1972 and is rarely available on the market. The image is clearly a person, but the surface of the person made
to look like stone or cement. The contrast between darks and lights is dramatic. This is a signed and
numbered lithograph, number 131 of 145. (There may also be some artists proofs.) The image area is 24-3/4 inches H x 19 inches W (62.8 cm x 48.2 cm).
The piece triple-matted in complementary
colors and framed in it's original modern frame, a dark steel blue metal frame. The orginal label from the
Royce Gallery of Denver, CO is still on the back. (The frame is in good condition, but is showing some wear.) The work is
covered in glass. Framed size is 32 inches H x 26 inches W (81.2 cm x 66 cm).
Price
is $1,800 USD. J D Smith Fine Art will provide a Certificate of Authenticity to the buyer. Photos of the
lithograph are included on Witold-K's website, along with photos of paintings he has done on the same theme throughout
his career. Also, see the book "Witold-K at Sotheby's", 2007, p. 224 for originals with the
same theme.
