Symphony for the People -
Original
Color Lithograph
by Witold-K
This is an original, signed lithograph in colors on Arches watermarked wove paper by Witold-K, titled
Symphony for the People. In this work, a long-standing theme of Witold-K's, the wandering people, is combined with
the theme of music. The work is signed and dated by the artist in pencil lower right, with the location of printing included
(Paris). It is also labeled Hors Commerce (Apart from Sale) by the artist in pencil lower left. Hors
Commerce impressions are typically limited to a handful of copies often distributed by the artist or publisher to special
customers or galleries.
This work was printed in 1986 and is rarely available on the market. The image
is of a wandering group of people over a music staff. The work was purchased at auction in its original sleeve and has never
been framed before, leaving the colors rich and bright.
The
image area is 26-1/2 inches H x 17-1/4 inches W (67.3 cm x 43.8 cm).
The piece double-matted in complementary colors and acid-free materials. It
is framed in a new, rustic-looking frame and covered with UV-resistant acrylic. Framed size is 37-3/4 inches
H x 28-1/2 inches W (95.9 cm x 72.4 cm).
Price is $2,800 USD. J D Smith Fine Art will provide
a Certificate of Authenticity to the buyer. Photos of the lithograph are included on Witold-K's website, along with photos
of paintings he has done throughout his carerr on the theme of wandering people. See the book "Witold-K
at Sotheby's", 2007, p. 173 for additional documentation.
