Original lithograph poster printed in colors on wove paper. Lifetime impression by Jules Cheret; printed as a supplement to the Courrier Francais. Titled Pastilles Poncelet, the poster advertises a medicinal candy. Published in 1896 by Jules Chéret and printed at Impremiere Chaix (Atelier Chéret), Paris. (There is also a 4-foot high – 124 cm – version of this poster.) Signed in the plate “J Cheret” lower left just right of the candy’s price. Reference: Lucy Broido, The Posters of Jules Cheret, 2nd Revised and Enlarged Edition, 909a (see page 52).
